JOB SUMMARY

As Talent Specialist, you are the face of Starfish as you engage with agency leaders and the pipeline of talent you assist in sourcing and developing to ensure a continuous stream of highly professional, passionate and energetic employees.  In coordination with the Head of Talent, you will provide support to Starfish leaders related to staffing needs, position and qualification definition, behavioral-based interviewing, selection, offer preparation, onboarding of new hires into the organization, and talent retention. You will also play a pivotal role in facilitating the agency’s college relations & internship programs, pre-hire & orientation processes, talent review and career development process and management of talent data in the agency’s HRIS system. Using your expertise in recruitment and talent programs, you will help ensure Starfish provides great recruitment and onboarding experiences which contribute to strong engagement and retention.  Through your positive networking and engagement with our sources of talent, communities and candidates, you naturally promote the agency as a preferred employer and great place to work.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human resources or business-related field required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in human resources with a focus on talent acquisition in a fast-paced environment required.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a role model for Starfish mission, vision and values; continually reinforce the agency’s focus of strengthening families and providing hope through your work.
  • Maintain great relationships with key institutions and organizations which are excellent sources of talent for Starfish’s markets and lead or participate in events such as career fairs, campus recruiting events and other networking opportunities.
  • Partner with agency and department leaders to ensure each position has a current competency-based profile, appropriately assigned grade and comprehensive job description.
  • Administer appropriate assessment tools and processes to support Starfish’s selection and talent development processes.
  • Execute the staffing process from position creation through orientation using the agency’s HRIS system capability.
  • Post open positions using appropriate job boards, social media, and other sources of candidate identification; partner with marketing and media relations as appropriate.
  • Screen, interview and recommend candidates to hiring leaders for further evaluation.
  • Coordinate the Starfish new hire orientation process and support the onboarding process in collaboration with the HR Business Partners.
  • Assist in coordination of Starfish internship programs.
  • Assist in coordinating the Starfish Talent Management process.
  • Prepare for and assist in coordination of the agency’s talent review process.
  • Assist in conducting the agency’s exit interview process.
  • Be mindful that all talent processes should reflect and comply with applicable equal employment opportunity (EEO), related employment laws and regulations, as well as the agency’s recruitment strategy and commitment to diversity and equity.
  • Think strategically, recommending new approaches, procedures, and initiatives for HR which further Starfish’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Maintain and analyze key performance indicators and metrics on the agency’s Talent activities to recommend appropriate measures for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for informational purposes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
