Full Time

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under direction of a provider in an outpatient Behavioral Health clinic setting. Performs duties according to scope of practice. Will be based out of Wautoma & Friendship. 

  • Prepares patient rooms, reviews inventory, restocks and cleans as necessary.
  • Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height, updates health information and records information in electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Assists Provider with patient visits as needed.
  • Provides translation for Providers as needed and able.
  • Assists patients with completing psycho-metric screening tools including entering results.
  • Process prescription refills, and direct/instruct people we support and/or family members regarding prescription and treatment instructions according to the provider guidelines and orders.
  • Prepare patient charts, including verifying Prescription Drug Monitoring Program data, ensuring medication contracts are up to date and medications are available.
  • Schedule and complete medication count as needed.
  • Performs random and scheduled urine analysis as directed by the provider.
  • Monitor patient appointment attendance.
  • Be available to assist with patients who may be in crisis or in high need.
  • Reinforce treatment plans that provider have developed and complete case management duties as needed or requested by provider.
  • Be available to assist keeping patients on track with scheduled appointments, group therapy and medications to help them reach their goals.
  • Assist providers with gathering and entering patient bio-psychosocial information.
  • Provide assistance with communication between patients and providers.
  • Distribute patient education materials.
  • Address patient phone calls and route information to the Provider as needed.
  • Answer patient questions regarding treatment program requirements.
  • Provide patient assistance including deescalating volatile situations and alert team members to any areas of concern.
  • Performs phlebotomy and laboratory procedures as directed by the provider.
  • Understand DHS 35/75 compliance and clinic policy and procedures per department.
  • Participate in training to better patient care such as learning evidence-based approaches to self-management support, proactively addressing the needs of patients and families in this community, cultural competency, OSHA, HIPAA and EHR, office standing orders, patient population management, computer literacy and skills, communication skills, etc.
  • Follows standing orders and protocols.
  • Performs prior authorizations.
  • Follows CLIA, OSHA and CLSI requirements.
  • Must adhere to FHLC policies and procedures.
  • Regular and Reliable Attendance
  • Other duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required.

Typing and computer skills required (Microsoft Office)

Knowledge of electronic medical records, medical terminology, medications, phlebotomy, and lab preferred.

2 years professional work experience in a clinic and/or Mental Health Program preferred
