SUMMARY

In accordance with RNP's Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies and under the supervision of the Department Director dispense methadone/suboxone and assists physician and treatment program staff by performing the following duties.

Shift:

Every other Saturday, Sunday- 7am- 11am

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Dispenses, documents, and reports all methadone/suboxone /vivitrol doses in accordance with approved nursing techniques, program policies and procedures and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Maintains documentation and accurate count of medication prescribed by other providers that may interfere with methadone/suboxone.
  • Verifies, updates, records and files doctors' orders, dosage levels and laboratory results in client records.
  • Ensures that clients receive required annual physical exam
  • Observes client, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of client's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Participates in department's staff, treatment team, and in quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • CT Licensed Practical Nurse license required.
  • Previous experience in methadone maintenance or similar community-based substance abuse treatment organization preferred.
  • Substantial specialized judgment and skill in observation, care, and counsel of the ill.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and to assume initiative.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  • Compassionate team player.
  • Crisis intervention and de-escalating skills necessary.
  • Good clinical and medical assessment skills, excellent time management, detail oriented, good communication skills, knowledge of Medication Assisted Treatment preferred.
  • Must be vetted by the Department of Corrections VIP Professional Partners to enter any DOC program.
  • Travel required to Bridgeport Correctional Center (BCC) to medicate inmates in Bridgeport Correctional Facility Program
  • EHR experience necessary.
  • Phlebotomy a plus

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES

  • Current State of Connecticut Nurse's License required.
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license is required.
