Summary
The Outpatient Clinical Trainer reports to the Vice President of Clinical Operations. This position plays an important role in assuring service implementation and delivery is consistent across outpatient sites.  The Outpatient Clinical Trainer supports the Adult Outpatient programs in executing within the scope of assigned expectations. This includes providing training and mentoring of new recovery coach staff in the outpatient settings at a minimum includes teaching appropriate documentation, observing initial and updated assessments to assure competency, site champion for the implementation and use of the ASAM Continuum Assessment and assisting recovery coach staff in learning and succeeding at meeting individual service delivery expectations.  In addition, the Outpatient Clinical Trainer is expected to document their member interactions appropriately and otherwise act as an appropriate role model for the team.  The tasks of the Outpatient Clinical Trainer will also provide both individual and group interactions with members of the outpatient sites teams. The position is required to work on-site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Presents training sessions in a classroom setting and on-site at branch locations to ensure that customer service, compliance and lending service functions are completed in accordance with standards and regulations.
  • Offer specific training programs to help staff maintain or improve job skills.
  • Identifies training needs and designs support materials including audio-visual aids, computer presentations, manuals, workbooks, and scripts. 
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs and employee performance to ensure that they are appropriate and effective.
  • Collaborates effectively within an integrated service delivery model, fostering a cross-functional team approach to achieve objectives.
  • Completes chart audits in conjunction with Clinical Operations Director to assure effectiveness of training program.
  • Assist outpatient site leadership in the execution of/or directly performing Program/Department Services operations, as directed or needed.
  • Assist outpatient program leadership in ensuring or performing the variety of customer service functions within Program/Department Services such as handling problem resolution and complaints. 
  • Assists, through teaching, mentoring and modeling, with appropriate documentation of services to assure data validation standards are met.  
  • Assist outpatient site leadership with assuring the on-boarding of new staff is consistent and complete through teaching, modeling and mentoring the recovery coach duties and responsibilities with new staff. 
  • As assigned provides assessment observations of new staff who are working toward credentialing as well as established staff who demonstrate a need for refresher training on assessment. 
  • Assists outpatient site leadership in maintaining compliance with all funder and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist outpatient site leadership in assessing process efficiency and effectiveness, assists with implementing changes and monitoring results; ensuring that process documentation is current, relevant, and useful throughout Outpatient Services.
  • Assist outpatient site leadership to maintain a safe work environment, elevates to leadership any concerns identified that impact both member and staff safety.  
  • Assists outpatient site leadership with, training, development, and coaching of staff, including coaching to meet Service Delivery Expectations (SDEs).
  • Assist Program/Department Leadership   with interfacing in the design, development, and implementation of processes including assessment update processes, being the site champion for implementation and utilization of the ASAM Continuum assessment.
  • All duties within the scope of the Recovery Coach role. 
  • Assures all interactions with members are documented appropriately to assure maintenance of the member record and to function as an appropriate role model to other staff.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of professional development and training within Outpatient Services and Business Operations in keeping with the growth and general responsibilities of the position.
  • Performs other related activities in accordance with agency growth and changes.

Qualifications

Education/Experience    
  • Master’s in related field, preferred and three (3) years’ related direct service experience.
  • Bachelor’s in related field and fice (5) years related direct service experience.
Other:    
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
  • Use of Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Outlook.
Certifications:    
  • Licensed by the AZ Board of Behavioral Health, required
Additional Requirements:    
  • Fingerprint Clearance obtained no later than the first 90 days from hire, as applicable. 
  • CPR and First Aid obtained no later than the first 60 days from hire. 
  • Arizona Driver’s License, proof of current insurance, and willingness to use personal vehicle. Driver license is an essential requirement for performing duties for this position. Clean Motor Vehicle Record with no more than 2 moving violations or a license suspension in the past 3 years.
Skills:    
  • Familiarity with a variety of computer software used for researching, tracking, data entry/processing, and reporting information, i.e., AHCCCS Online, Excel, Word, Power Point, Cisco Finesse, NextGen and various statistical or graphics programs.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to train on administrative procedures, office equipment, and principals for providing excellent customer service. 
  •  Knowledge of and the ability to train on electronic health systems, records standards, and current statutes pertaining to protected health information while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to train on AHCCCS, insurance benefits, and determination of eligibility and/or enrollment.
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance, demeanor, and working relationships with staff, members, visitors, and the community at large.  
  • Ability to apply tactful, adaptable, and professional communication skills with a variety of personalities, cultures, and linguistically diverse backgrounds.  
  • Ability to evaluate facts and complete root cause analysis on situations to determine appropriate actions and resolve complex aspects of Program/Department services operations. 
  • Ability to multi-task, anticipate workflow, plan and prioritize while working with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to coordinate and make decisions, follow-through with all tasks, and escalate crisis situations to the appropriate staff. 
  • Ability to develop training materials and facilitate trainings or presentations as needed.
