Description

Position Summary:

The Pathology Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the day to day workflow for the site-based pathologists and the site’s technical team including slide distribution, scheduling and dispatching for procedures, and a wide variety of administrative duties and problem solving tasks.  This position serves as a It is important that the Pathology Support Specialist abides by HIPAA regulations, and where appropriate, uses appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as this position may be exposed to a number of environmental hazards.

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Answer, triage and log phone calls including scheduling and dispatching for procedures, report revisions, verbal test add-on requests
  2. Assist Pathologists with various administrative tasks and requests such as faxing, copying, requesting H&P's from outside institutions, and gathering needed information to complete cases.
  3. Monitor and distribute all incoming slides, correspondence, reports, etc.
  4. Resolve specimen issues including missing and/or inaccurate information, patient demographics, etc.
  5. Gather, manifest and route slides/items to other CellNetix locations
  6. Office supply ordering
  7. Accession/manage consult cases
  8. Run reports and troubleshoot various issues including timely case sign out and adding providers not currently listed within our system.
  9. Modify internal systems with physician contact information and schedules 
  10. Other duties as assigned

  5. Use internal and hospital IT systems

  8. Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
  9. Must have basic computer skills, including accurate typing,  ability to learn new software and equipment, and e-mail etiquette

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  1. High school diploma
  2. Medical terminology, preferred
  3. Valid Driver's License, preferred

Physical Requirements

  1. Walking
  2. Standing for over 1 hour at a time
  3. Sitting/Computer & telephone use
  4. In-Office Attendance required
  5. Able to lift  20+ lbs
