Summary of Position

The Social Media Manager is responsible for managing and storytelling on all of the Summit Church social media channels.  This person will be a highly motivated, creative individual with a passion to connect digitally through the visual design, content management, brand awareness, and creative reach of social platforms.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Personal integrity and evidence of ongoing spiritual growth

  • Experience in social media

  • Ability to identify, develop, and execute social media marketing plans

  • Ability to create, manage, and executive social media platform and content strategy

  • Ability to assess current ministry and social media trends and make appropriate recommendations for consideration

  • Strong leadership and vision

  • Ability to analyze trends, think progressively, chart a path, and hit specific goals

  • Organize and showcase social platform growth, engagement, and trends to understand what's successful and what needs adjusting

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong project management skills

  • Analytical and multitasking skills

  • High level of understanding of popular social networks

  • A member of the Summit Church or willing & able to become a member



Content Management

  • Manage The Summit Church social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo).

    • Ability to express our views and image in creative ways

    • Answer appropriate inbox questions

  • Develop relevant content to reach social audience

    • Curate content from the weekend message to post throughout the week

    • Develop basic Adobe/Canva skills to create content

    • Schedule, post, and monitor on all social platforms using content management tools

    • Interact with online audience in a timely manner

Vision and Goal Setting

  • Study and stay up-to-date with the latest social media platforms and trends

    • Research similar organization’s social strategy and execution

  • Identify and implement measurable strategies to expand our social footprint

    • Develop marketing strategies for reaching targeted audiences on social media

    • Quarterly campaigns that strategize and execute our social objectives

    • Set specific objectives and report on KPIs (Follower Growth, Profile, Engagement; Content Reach, Engagement by Content Type; Areas of Opportunity; Response Rate and Quality, Negative Feedback)

      • Develop “calls to action” to track engagement

Brand Awareness and Social Reputation

  • Oversee the visual design across all platforms.

  • Advise and train staff on best practices and policies when using social media

    • Maintain the integrity of The Summit Church’s social media brand by coaching staff and volunteers who manage campus/ministry specific social media accounts

    • Provide staff with resources to excel on personal social media accounts

  • Suggest and implement new features to develop social media and brand awareness


  • Provide monthly reporting and analysis of social media analytics and results

  • Analyze key metrics and adjust strategy as needed

  • Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research, and Google analytics
