Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP), is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and wellbeing for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity and respect.

Recovery Counseling Services (RCS) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) This program is a CARF accredited, and Department of Public Health licensed, co-occurring clinic providing outpatient substance abuse and mental health services in a trauma-informed environment to adult men and women. Located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the facility accepts men and women ages 18 and older with needs regarding substance abuse only, mental health issues only, or with co-occurring issues relating to both areas.

SUMMARY:

In accordance with RNP's Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies and under the supervision of the Program Director, the technician is responsible for the observed collection of toxicology screenings. The technician is required to maintain the chain of custody of collected samples in accordance with agency policy and procedures as well as contract requirements.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Collect and monitor urine toxicology screenings.
  • Monitor all client activity and behavior and report all irregularities to supervisor on duty.
  • Complete all toxicology documentation as required by contractual agreements.
  • Respect client’s rights; adhere to confidentiality according to state and federal guidelines/regulations.
  • Maintain good working relationship with service providers; i.e., hospital, police, treatment centers, treatment team.
  • All other duties assigned as deemed appropriate by Director or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
  • Physical ability to assist medically compromised clients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Remain familiar with RNP’s policies and procedures.
  • Remain consumer service driven.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with clients and/or their family members.
  • Ability to project a professional image.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Some substance abuse experience preferred.
  • Spanish bilingual a plus.
  • Incumbents may be required to secure professional certification and/or license (e.g. CAC, SCCD, CCDP).
  • Valid Connecticut Driver’s license required.

This position requires the manual dexterity sufficient to operate phones, computers, and other office equipment. The position requires the physical ability to kneel, bend and perform light lifting. This person must have the ability to write and speak clearly using the English language to convey information and be able to hear at normal speaking levels both in person and over the telephone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the working conditions are good with little or no exposure to extremes in health, safety hazards and/or hazardous materials. This person must have the ability to travel as required to work with staff.
