About the Opportunity

Position Overview

We at Illuminate Education are seeking an analytical and experienced QA Engineer who will play a crucial role in ensuring that we are consistently delivering a performant bug and defect-free product. You will participate in planning discussions with business stakeholders and development staff to determine how business problems and opportunities can be resolved with enhancements to existing software and the creation of new software systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product owners and software engineers to understand technical system requirements, business use cases, and application performance considerations

  • Design, implement, execute, and maintain a comprehensive and well-structured performance test script suites

  • Verify application performance by analyzing CPU Utilization, Memory Usage, Network Usage, and DB reports

  • Establish metrics, apply industry best practices, and develop new tools and processes to ensure quality, especially as it relates to performance testing

  • Analyze test data and present report findings, suggestions, including detailed data and performance graphs, to stakeholders in an informative manner to help them make better decisions regarding a product’s function, purpose, and performance

  • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities

  • Execute functional and regression automation suites

  • Assist with manual testing for deployment smoke testing and hotfixes


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline

  • 3+ years work experience in software quality assurance

  • Experience with performance testing

  • Experience with JMeter (BeanShell and Groovy, a plus)

  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans (performance test plans a plus)

  • Experience with automated testing tools with the ability to manually test web applications

  • Highly organized with good time-management skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or Prometheus a plus

  • Experience with Python, Selenium, GitHub, Docker, CircleCI

  • Experience with different testing techniques such as UI Testing, Automated Testing, and Model Based Testing

  • Experience with security testing 

  • Experience with agile development processes
