The responsibilities of this position is to purify proteins for restock and modify existing protocols to meet the demand of our customers.  This position will require assistance with basic lab operations and routine guidance on how to follow SOP’s and purification methods.


  1. Purifies proteins and enzymes for restock.
  2. Performs chromatography and SDS-PAGE.
  3. Revises protocols after making modifications for process methods. 
  4. Maintains lab equipment (concentrators, pH meter, columns etc.) and contracts repair service when needed. 
  5. Maintains lab order and cleanliness.
  6. Filter and aliquot product for bulk storage.
  7. Prepares common buffers and reagents.
  8. Improve operation efficiency and contribute to reducing costs.
  9. Assists in orientation of new personnel as requested by supervisor or manager.
  10. Works with supervisor and manager to facilitate scheduling of projects.
  11. Maintains compliance with quality training and documentation.
  12. Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job.
  13. Performs additional duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelors in biochemistry or equivalent with a minimum of 0 to 2 years of experience with chromatography, chromatography systems and working with chemicals. 

Must be able to work in a fast pace environment, multitask, and have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

  1. Knowledge of general chemistry, biochemistry, and column chromatography.
  2. Knowledge of HPLC/AKTA operations and mechanisms.
  3. Knowledge of general lab equipment.
  4. Knowledge of safety and company rules and policies.
  5. Skills in establishing effective interpersonal relationships such as the ability to solicit key ideas and information. 
  6. Skills in problem solving and critical thinking, including the ability to identify and appropriately evaluate an alternative course of action.
  7. Skills in verbal and written communication including technical writing and presentation skills.
