Position Summary

The Facilities Specialist - Camp Scherman performs general land and building maintenance and repair at a large Girl Scout camp. Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, physical operations and logistical functions and tasks to ensure camp facilities, infrastructure and equipment function in a safe and efficient manner. Assist with check-in /check-out process for campers. This position is part-time and is expected to end on September 30, 2021.

Essential Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, physical operations and logistical functions and tasks to ensure Camp Scherman’s facilities, infrastructure and equipment function in a safe and efficient manner; coordinating with contractors and vendors as needed.
  • Performs ground maintenance duties including pool, two lakes, mowing, brush clearing, road maintenance, trash disposal, erosion control, watering and tree trimming.
  • Performs general facility maintenance duties including building repair, carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and masonry.
  • Performs equipment maintenance and repairs, and minor vehicle maintenance.
  • Assists with implementing and complying with the Council’s Illness and Injury Prevention Program and all safety procedures. Provides for the security and safe operations of council facilities and activities.
  • Detects problems or concerns and provides timely solutions and recommendations to address or repair issues that arise with the Council’s land, facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Practical knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in maintenance work and experience in care of structures and grounds.
  • Above average skills and ability in the fields of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, equipment operation, and repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out directions.
  • Able to work harmoniously with others and be flexible regarding work schedules and assignments.
  • Willingness to work with persons regardless of age, race, disability, religion, ethnic, or socio-economic background.
  • Licensed and insured California driver; must pass background screening including driving.
  • Willingness to accept the beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout Movement and acceptance of the relevant and compelling benefits of Girl Scouting.
