Description

The Hospital Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing customized organ and tissue donation programs at assigned hospitals and supporting additional Hospital Development activities in other hospitals as needed. This role provides support to ensure hospital experiences are consistent and the highest level of quality service and outcome is achieved.

 

Hospital Partner Responsibilities

  • Establishes a strong working relationship with, and serves as a knowledgeable resource for hospital administrators, physicians, and nurses in assigned accounts.
  • In partnership with and at the direction of Hospital Development Program Managers (HDPM’s) and HD leadership, presents, attends or leads meetings, and other hospital activities as needed in specific hospitals outside of assigned accounts.  
  • Collaborates with hospital partners to develop and maintain organ and tissue donation policies at assigned hospital accounts.
  • Conducts death record/timeliness reviews and applicable audit procedure as assigned ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness in reporting.
  • Analyzes hospital accounts utilizing death record reviews, referral data, and potential donor statistics and develops customized plans for assigned hospitals depending on needs and level of potential.
  • Maintains and assists in establishing contractual relationships with assigned hospitals for tissue recovery services.
  • Presents data to administrative-level contacts and assures that best practices for donation process are followed.
  • Maintains and assists in establishing contractual relationships with assigned hospitals for tissue recovery services.
  • Assists all hospital accounts with Joint Commission, CMS, FDA, state and federal laws and UNOS requirements related to organ and tissue donation. This includes providing direct support to assigned hospitals specific to need (including educational programs, nursing staff and physician training) and establishing and updating donation policies and procedures.

 

 

Professional Partner Responsibilities

  • Partners with Donation Liaison to support strong working relationships with medical examiners, coroners, funeral homes, and other professional partners.
  • Provides education to nursing schools as assigned
  • Participates in professional and community trade events, by exhibiting or speaking.

 

Internal Partner Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with HDPM’s to support Hospital Development activities in higher-volume organ and tissue donation hospitals.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to review process challenges at assigned hospital accounts, and work to implement process improvement efforts.
  • Serve as a resource to internal partners regarding hospital policies and procedures. On-site support during case activity may be expected.  
  • Assists with community outreach specifically aimed at donation education. Develops strong relationships with community organizations and leaders to help LifeCenter further its mission.
  • Collaborate with Hospital Development staff to develop plans for servicing the rural healthcare community.

 

Supervision

  • This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences. Good presentation skills are necessary.
  • Highly organized and analytical and is able to present information to others in a clear and concise format.
  • Outstanding ability to analyze and assess situations, create solutions to problems and motivate others.
  • A proactive team player.
  • This individual must demonstrate operating knowledge of computers with a demonstrable, intermediate level skill (at a minimum) with email, Word, Excel, and other comparable software programs.
  • This position may require the ability to operate specialized equipment, such as audio-visual equipment.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • Relevant work experience can be considered as a substitution for academic requirements.
  • Experience in a health care environment or related field is preferred.
  • Experience in sales and marketing, customer service, and public speaking is strongly preferred.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile or the ability to arrive and depart from work and work-related functions at expected times.

Travel is essential to this position; consequently, the employee must be prepared to travel by automobile and airplane.
