Position Summary:

The Anatomic Pathology Lab Manager is an effective communicator and proactive decision maker who oversees the laboratory operations at our satellite lab in Spokane and associated hospital locations. The manager provides strong leadership, direction and support to staff of all levels, and collaborates with pathologists and other departments to ensure efficient workflow and operations... The manager collaborates and effectively communicates with our hospital and clinic affiliates . It is crucial that the Manager is knowledgeable about HIPAA, CAP and CLIA regulations, practices and enforces all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procedures as this position is responsible for controlling staff exposure to a number of environmental hazards.

Essential Duties:


  1. Oversees daily operations at all assigned sites & departments
  2. Establishes, standardizes, and implements departmental procedures and maintaining laboratory standards in compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements
  3. Manages all aspects of staffing, including but not limited to hiring, scheduling, budgeting, productivity and quality metrics, FTE utilization and performance reviews
  4. Develops, reviews, and updates policies and technical procedures for all laboratory sections
  5. Initiates cost containment activities and improved utilization of services
  6. Designs and implements department specific training programs and process improvement projects and ensures new processes are implemented effectively
  7. Prepares for and conducts periodic departmental CAP and/or DOH evaluations to maintain regulatory requirements
  8. Troubleshoots and works to resolve any issues that arise within and between departments and/or the hospitals and implements an effective quality management system
  9. Ensures the proper operation of equipment and systems
  10. Frequently and effectively communicate with department staff, pathologists and company management team regarding issues which affect overall operations
  11. Provides back up assistance as needed and serves as a role model for customer service expectations of the hospital and department
  12. Other duties as assigned

  1. 5+ years of leadership experience
  2. 5+ years of technical laboratory experience, preferably in a moderate to high volume laboratory
  3. Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in a related field
  4. Technical experience in Histology or Grossing
  5. ASCP or equivalent qualification preferred in  Grossing or Histology
