Risk Manager

Job Summary and primary duties:  Responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the organization aligned with existing organization compliance program
  • Performing a risk assessment: Analyzing current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the company
  • Performing a risk evaluation: Evaluating the company’s previous handling of risks, and comparing potential risks with criteria set out by the company such as costs and legal requirements
  • Establishing the level of risk the company are willing to take aligned with existing organization compliance program
  • Risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience
  • Creating business continuity plans to limit risks in conjunction with Security Officer, Privacy Officer, and Executive Leadership
  • Conducting policy and compliance audits, which will include liaising with internal and external auditors
  • Reviewing any new major contracts or internal business proposals where needed
  • Building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within the company
  • Identify, specific to the revenue cycle, internal department educational opportunities
  • Extraction of data and information from research and internal sources
  • Creation of educational deliverable applicable to National Medical department staff and/or clients
  • Provide follow up to department heads related to department specific engagement on education
  • Assist with research of state or payer specific information to assist with client inquiries where compliance risk is a concern
  • Monitor and log all reported HIPAA incidents or breaches identifying trends and areas of educational opportunity or policy and procedure update

 

Educational Requirements:

  • Required- Associate Degree; Preferred- Bachelor’s Degree

  • Knowledge of health care industry and regulations
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with HIPAA, HITECH, Compliance and patient confidentiality policies (both medical and financial)
  • Knowledge of  electronic health records
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure deadlines are met
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to promote favorable company image with client, state employees and software companies

 

Experience:

  • Previous employment in healthcare environment
  • 2 years experience in healthcare risk management
  • Experience with research and interpretation/dissemination of data
  • Experience with revenue cycle
  • Knowledge of the Ambulatory Surgery Center industry

Work Environment:

  • Remote with travel to corporate office where needed
