Description

Under direct supervision of the IT Support Manager, the primary responsibility of the Network Administrator is to maintain a reliable, secure and efficient data communications network. The Network Administrator will deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor all active network equipment in order to ensure network operations are uniquely configured and optimized for all agency applications.

· Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade company LAN, WAN, MAN WLAN, SAN networks, servers and peripheral equipment and controllers.

· Configuration, installation, deployment and support of several key enterprise networking systems including Dell Layer 2/3 network switches, HP ProCurve switches, Cisco POE switches, Sophos firewalls, Palo Alto firewalls.

· Design configure and implement both static and dynamic(limited) routing protocols.

· Utilize best practice, industry standard and approved protocols for the streamlining and most efficient operation of all network devices for both on-premises and cloud-based platforms.

· Use of network related troubleshooting tools including Wireshark™ or Ethereal™ packet capture as well as various Fluke Networks™ troubleshooting tools (i.e., cable trace, fiber testing etc.)

· Able to verbally communicate and generate easily understandable documents and reports for both technical and non-technical staff.

· Assists Telecom staff in troubleshooting telecommunication issues in direct relation to daily network operations including VOIP protocols, SIP lines, phone switches and servers such as Avaya.

· Responsible for ensuring the timely resolution of escalated network incidents reported by the staff.

· Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency).

· Ensure network security and connectivity by testing for network weaknesses, creating follow up plan of correction and implementing necessary changes.

· Use initiative to determine the source of network related problems, troubleshoot and provide appropriate solutions to the problems while working independently or within cross-functional teams.

· Configure and test proposed and/or requested network devices.

· Excellent documentation skills to track, monitor, & communicate network incidents in a precise & cohesive manner.

· Maintain and support the update and patching schedule(s) for all network device firmware.

· Maintain and support network inventory documentation including physical device(s) and firmware version(current/historical).

· Maintain and/or develop and document network map(s) for entire network.

· Stay current on, and maintain an in-depth knowledge of operating systems, hardware systems, peripheral products, and conversion techniques.

· Manage all backup and recovery software and methodologies.

· Develop & manage effective professional working relationships with co-workers, outside contractors & vendors.

· Treat people with respect; inspires the trust of others; works with integrity and ethically.

· Lead, facilitate, and/or participate in IT related projects and meetings as assigned.

· Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management as requested.

· Must be versatile, yet persistent in solving technical issues under pressure, until resolution is reached.

· Must be courteous when handling and resolving complaints.

· Demonstrate exceptional patience and calm demeaner in a high stress, demanding environment.

· Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and assists in crisis.

· Must be physically able to lift computer equipment that may weigh up to 50 lbs.

· May be required to work holidays and/or after hours on call as requested.

· Must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position.

· Regular and predictable attendance is required.

 

Qualifications

Prerequisites:

· Associate’s degree or higher (Computer Science or Information Technology) or 4+ years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· At least one advanced network certification (e.g. CCNA, VCP-NV, CompTia-Network+)

· 4+ years of enterprise network security (Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Access Control/Management, etc.) design, configuration, installation, and maintenance experience.

· 3+ years wireless networking design, configuration, installation, and maintenance experience preferred.

· 1+ years’ experience in a health care or clinical work environment preferred.

· Experience with server virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, or XenServer) preferred.

Skills:

· Strong understanding of Dell Layer 2/3 network switches, HP ProCurve switches, Cisco POE switches, Sophos firewalls, Palo Alto firewalls.

· Experience with firewalls, VPNs, remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.

· Familiarity with relational databases and Electronic Health Records.

· Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.

· Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.

· Able to promptly address escalated support requests.

· Strong understanding of the latest Microsoft Office Suite.

· Effective written and oral communication skills.
