Description

Position Summary

This position will work with the Volunteerism team, which strategically deploys volunteers to partner non-profits of United Way. The position will report primarily to the Individual and Youth Engagement Manager, though will work closely with the entire department. All duties will surround the planning and execution of: large-scale corporate Days of Action, community-wide volunteer projects, as well as student-focused Youth United (YU) events. Interns will also have heavy administrative responsibilities to the Volunteerism team and Youth United program.

Responsibilities

  • Membership and recruitment tasks for YU (working closely with school systems and youth organizations, identifying new prospect groups)​​​
  • Assist with coordination of community and YU service projects (potential to take ownership of smaller projects)
  • Coverage and management of YU, community, and corporate service projects
  • Preparation for large-scale projects (corporate Days of Action, larger community-wide events)
  • Ongoing research projects which impact team processes (eg, identifying needs from non-profits, recognition opportunities, volunteer recruitment)
  • Volunteer data management
  • Administrative assistance to the Volunteerism team
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms
  • Basic knowledge of Excel
  • Availability to work some Saturdays and evenings
  • Must have reliable transportation
Eligibility

The United Way of Greater Atlanta (UWGA) internship program is a one semester, paid program designed to give college students an opportunity to complement their formal education with career-related experience.

United Way of Greater Atlanta supports internship programs that provide growth and learning opportunities to students pursuing their undergraduate and graduate degrees.

To qualify as a student intern, students must meet one of the four following enrollment criteria:

  • The student is currently enrolled as a full-time student as defined by the school, organization, or institution.
    • The student must provide proof of enrollment upon hire.
    • Proof of continued enrollment must be provided each semester during the regular school year.
  • The student has been accepted into an educational institution which meets the above requirement, when between institutions (e.g., from high school to college).
