Continental Services is the exclusive provider of food and beverage operations at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House located in beautiful Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan.  We manage the newly constructed Continental, an upscale full-service restaurant serving eclectic American cuisine complemented by a full bar, and The Speedster, a café which provides snacks, sandwiches and beverages for guests while touring the grounds.


Position Overview:


The Host/Hostess, typically the first person a guest meets at The Continental, sets the atmosphere for the dining experience.  Along with taking reservations, to-go orders and seating the host/hostess assists fellow employees and management in providing an exceptional experience to all those who visit Ford House.



Position Duties & Responsibilities


  • Work in tandem with the management team to successful operate The Continental.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of both Continental Services and Ford House.
  • Complete the training program for the Host position.
  • Support the servers and The Speedster attendants with food and beverage service.
  • Greet, direct and seat guests at tables.
  • Take, place, package and provide to-go orders to guests.
  • Maintain the overall cleanliness and order of The Continental dining room.
  • Complete any tasks assigned by the management staff.
  • Passionate about excellent guest service and the ability to anticipate guest needs.
  • Professional in appearance, attitude, and communication.
  • Enthusiastic and able to bring positive energy to the workplace.
  • Considerate, patient, and willing to contribute to the team.
  • Possess the highest work ethics, personal morals, and integrity.



Position Requirements:


  • Previous host/hostess experience preferred, but not required.
  • Availability to work during The Continental & The Speedster’s hours of operation.
  • Work with fellow team members and bring a positive energy to our culture.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands:


  • Able to sit, stand, walk, talk & hear for extended periods of time, at least eight hours, and traverse all areas of the work environment.
  • Fluent in English language with respects to writing, hearing, speaking, and understanding.
  • Can lift, handle, maneuver and carry weights more than 35 pounds.
  • Possess good sense of balance and able to bend, kneel, stoop, reach and squat on a frequent basis.
