One Line Job Description: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing routine building & equipment maintenance, using volunteers when possible.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop a system to invite volunteers to assist in projects
  • Paint, remodel, refurbish areas as needed
  • Maintain, monitor, and repair all equipment and amenities
  • Change of all filters for HVAC as required
  • Perform fleet vehicle and vehicular equipment maintenance,  general maintenance
  • Remove and properly dispose of all recyclable materials
  • Change light bulbs, replace ballasts, upgrade fixtures and rewire fixtures interior and exterior, as needed
  • Help make ready rooms and classrooms when needed
  • Assist with all contractor projects (installs/removals and remodels)
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned 
  • Maintain and keep the workshop neat and organized 
  • Clean up after every project and put all materials and work supplies away
  • Cross-trained in Department
  • Other projects as needed

Other Duties

  • Work assigned duties during “All Hands On Deck” events such as Christmas and Easter services
  • Other duties as assigned to include but not limited to landscaping, janitorial duties, prepare rooms for incoming events; remove or rearrange furniture for events or rooms, as needed, work special events or special assignments assisting teams, departments or the staff as a whole
Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of working experience in facilities maintenance  
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, lighting and construction

  • Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multitask
  • Ability to effectively utilize online communication, email and calendar tools
  • Ability to receive, process and follow up on requests for planned maintenance and maintenance requests through the Facility Maintenance Tracking Software (FMX) and Asana
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well and collaborate with team members, volunteers, and other staff
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical screening
    • Basic physical
    • 50lb lift test
    • Drug screen
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require
  • Ability to work outdoors in summer temperatures (100+ degrees)
  • Comfortable working in high noise levels requiring hearing protection
  • Comfortable working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints
  • Experience with Mac and macOS a plus
