Position Summary

This position will be integral to raising awareness and positively positioning United Way in the Northwest Region.   There is a high emphasis on being creative, innovative, kind, a self-starter, intrinsically motivated, and possessing enthusiasm for United Way’s work in the 4 counties we serve (Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas, Paulding).  This position will report to the Northwest Regional Director.

Responsibilities

  • Post daily on Northwest Region social media channels sharing pictures, stories, events

  • Track social media interactions providing a weekly summary of top posts and insights

  • Create and manage social media events for local events in the four counties

  • Lead role working with the Regional Director & Regional Coordinator on planning and executing Women United events in the 4 Northwest Counties

  • Assist with Board Member communications, meetings, and presentations

  • Write weekly press releases and share with local media in the corresponding part of the region

  • Assist County Engagement Directors with communication needs

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Belief in the United Way of Greater Atlanta mission

  • Current student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field

  • 1-3 years of experience with organizational social media

  • Positive and creative personality!

Eligibility

The United Way of Greater Atlanta (UWGA) internship program is a one semester, paid program designed to give college students an opportunity to complement their formal education with career-related experience.

United Way of Greater Atlanta supports internship programs that provide growth and learning opportunities to students pursuing their undergraduate and graduate degrees.

To qualify as a student intern, students must meet one of the four following enrollment criteria:

  • The student is currently enrolled as a full-time student as defined by the school, organization, or institution.
    • The student must provide proof of enrollment upon hire.
    • Proof of continued enrollment must be provided each semester during the regular school year.
  • The student has been accepted into an educational institution which meets the above requirement, when between institutions (e.g., from high school to college).
