Part Time

We have part time openings at the Jewish Community Center for Counselors at The Club. The Club provides before and after school care and is also providing school day care for children whose school day is virtual. The Club provides programming when school is on break or closed for snow days. The Club program is Monday- Friday, 7:30am to 6:00pm. Our caring and enthusiastic counselors participate and lead kindergarten through fifth grade children in a variety of activities such as swimming, crafts, sports, cooking, and provide homework and basic computer help.

Positions starting in August at our Creve Coeur location are available for these shifts:

· 7:30am to 12:15pm

· 11:45am to 3:30pm

· 7:30am- 3:30pm

· 3:00pm to 6:00pm

Duties include:

· Provide quality customer service at all times

· Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving

· Guide group/individual children to participate successfully in all aspects of offered activities

· Assist in teaching or leading activities as needed or as assigned

· Assist children with basic homework help and provide help with getting online for their classes

· Observe children’s behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures; apply appropriate behavior management techniques

· Attend all staff meetings as required

· Assist in enriching programming during snow days and when school is out

· Maintain good attendance and have reliable transportation

· Follow all JCC rules, regulations, and standards

· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


· High School Diploma or GED preferred, current college student or graduate in related field desired

· Previous camp, teaching, or childcare experience is essential

· Must have auditory, visual, ambulatory, cognitive, communications and physical ability to complete major tasks in program

· Ability to relate to and communicate with one’s peer group, parents, as well as to child’s age and skill levels

· Ability to assist in teaching an activity

· Must have basic computer skills and ability to help a child get online for class

· Must be able to assist children in emergency situations, including fire, evacuation, illness, or injury

· Should possess good character, integrity, and adaptability

· Demonstrates enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control in a dynamic environment

· Past Judaic experiences are a plus
