Description

RailPros provides comprehensive consulting services for the rail industry.  We specialize in areas of RWIC/railroad flagging, project management, observation and inspection, real estate, rail design and engineering, training, and media production.  As a leader in our industry, RailPros’ projects create long-term value for our clients from concept through operation by providing technical excellence and outstanding services.  We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our growing team.

Our Structural Engineer will be designing and reviewing structures.  This is a great opportunity to join our successful team and advance your career.  We have current projects requiring design and review of new railroad bridges, roadway bridges, maintenance facilities and retaining walls in various locations throughout the United States.

 

Primary Duties:

 

  • Design structural components for large-scale projects, including analyzing survey reports, topographical maps, zoning restrictions and client requirements to ensure specifications meet project goals.
  • Review blueprints, plans and change orders to verify structural integrity of materials and designs, and perform complex calculations and use modeling methods to ensure correct results.
  • Participate in initial planning and bidding processes, including reviewing environmental factors, government regulations, constructions costs and risk analysis reports to prepare comprehensive study on all relevant design factors.
  • Research existing and new material technology to determine practical applications, strength and durability expectations and cost-benefits information, and prepare material recommendations for current and future projects.
  • Create and present structural overviews for upcoming projects and develop reports that include technical details for engineers as well as big-picture analysis and cost estimates for project managers and senior executives.

 

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil (structures emphasis) or Structural Engineering
  • PE license
  • Minimum 5 years structures design experience
  • Proficient in drawing/detailing engineering structural plans using Microstation and/or AutoCAD
  • Experience interfacing with clients and other disciplines

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Experience producing structural calculations and drawings in Spanish language
  • Experience leading design teams
  • Experience working on railroad bridges and culverts for Spanish language clients
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering
