Under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator II, The Starter Pro Shop position will assist in the management of Golf course operations. All duties of this position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and the promotion of golf.
Incumbents in this class are primarily responsible for performing golf management operations in the Pro Shop. This class can be distinguished from the class of Golf Course Aid because incumbents in this class primarily serve as front line customer service to our golf customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Incumbents may not perform all duties. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Reserve and check players onto the tee sheet
- Run payment transaction through the Point of Sale (POS) system
- Supervise outside service staff and marshals/volunteers
- Telephone operator
- Golf Shop responsibilities include: opening, closing, and coverage as needed
- Assist with activities related to golf shop operations
- Order and receive merchandise
- Follow and govern District policies and procedures
- Provide great service to all customers
- Maintain a neat and clean appearance at all times
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. The functions of this position are primarily performed in indoor/outdoor locations as part of a team. The setting includes various weather conditions, including heat and sunshine. Incumbents must wear an appropriate uniform with identification and protective equipment. The environment requires working in and around water as well as slippery and/or wet surfaces. Specialized aspects of the work environment may also include high noise levels, working with participants who are using potentially dangerous Golf equipment. Incumbents may be assigned an irregular working schedule including weekends, early mornings, evenings and holidays.
