Essential Functions

  1. Help coordinate daily Bridge Housing Program operations, including opening and closing procedures, clean up, implementation and oversight of enrichment activities
  2. Provide direct services including managing sign-ups for showers, case management services, laundry assistance, providing referrals, providing hygiene products, clothing, and assisting with meals
  3. Ensure a safe and welcoming environment: respond to requests, address complaints, intervene in and de-escalate situations, provide support to staff, problem-solve issues in a timely manner, provide crisis intervention when needed and follow guidelines to maintain structure and safety for participants
  4. Distribute resources directly to participants as appropriate
  5. Assist with outreach to develop new resources as directed
  6. Lead, train and monitor peer leaders, interns and volunteers in the provision of services- assist with identifying and assigning projects and tasks where volunteers and interns can be utilized
  7. Assist with Bridge Housing tracking and data entry as needed
  8. Help with transitioning facility space between program by moving furniture
  9. Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization

  1. Knowledge of issues related to womens poverty, homelessness, mental illness, trauma, substance abuse, health issues, and older adults preferred
  2. Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage a diverse group of participants, team-members and volunteers
  3. Ability to exercise and model good judgment, teamwork and professionalism, especially in crisis situations with the ability to utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques within DWC guidelines
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  5. Strong written and oral communication skills required
  6. Detail-oriented, highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities, and set and meet goals and deadlines
  7. Great crisis intervention skills and an ability to de-escalate escalated clients in a trauma informed manner

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

The Bridge Housing Program is staffed seven days per week (Mon-Sunday 4.00 pm-7.00 am) to provide supportive services to homeless and low-income women in the community. DWC is seeking a highly personable, compassionate, and team-oriented person to provide direct service provision for our Bridge Housing Program. As a Bridge Housing Program team-member you will work to create a safe and welcoming environment that meet the immediate needs of the 25 women each night. This position will be responsible for the organization and implementation of the Bridge Housing services during open hours which may include but are not limited to: coordination of services and enrichment activities, crisis intervention, identifying program needs for participants, transitioning facility space, and assistance with meal prep/execution. The On-Call Bridge Housing Program Service Coordinator will work closely with participants and staff to provide services that build that women we serve and the community. This position reports directly to the Health and Wellness Program Manager.

Physical Demands

  1. Candidate must be able to bend, stand on a step stool, walk stairs and lift at least 25-45lbs
  2. Carry and sort donations
  3. Ability to operate computer, phones, fax and printer
  4. Move furniture to assist with set-up/take-down, including but not limited to tables, chairs, and cots

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is an On-Call position and the ability to work nighttime hours is required. On-call shifts are Monday through Sunday from 3:30 pm to 7:30 am.

Minimal traveling may be required for activities, meetings and/or training as directed



Required Education and Experience

  1. Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred
  2. Direct service experience with high risk/high need populations and/or history of employment in customer service required; Experience in a multi-service nonprofit is a plus
  3. Oral and written fluency in both Spanish and English preferred
