The Director of Learning and Development provides strategic and “hands-on” leadership and implementation of the Learning & Development functions at Aprio, LLP.  Learning & Development’s areas of responsibility include the development and execution of strategies, initiatives and policies relating to onboarding, including new hire and experienced hire orientation, the firm’s learning management system, team member compliance with firm regulatory CPE requirements, and the development of curriculum-based learning plans and training that supports career paths, encompassing the following: 

Position responsibilities:

  • Become quickly immersed into the company culture, acting as a strategic partner with key firm leaders to accomplish critical business objectives
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify skills and competencies needed to strengthen the organization and prepare it for future success. Develop learning plans to support and enable the successful attainment of these skills and competencies
  • Lead, drive and execute the live and virtual delivery of a robust industry-specific learning and development curriculum through Aprio University, including technical, soft-skills, advisory, communication and  applications training, training on the firm’s policies and procedures, compliance training, new hire orientation, career pathing, manager effectiveness, leadership development and other key training program needs
  • Build a data-driven and technology-enabled learning organization to include an awareness and the application of analytics, dashboards, AI, etc
  • Develop, implement and maintain all learning and development policies, standards, processes and tools while ensuring compliance with firm regulatory CPE and NASBA requirements
  • Identify, negotiate with, procure and manage external technical, technological, advisory, communication and soft skill service providers including industry-known experts and thought leaders
  • Lead, inspire and develop a team of learning and development professionals
  • Review, evaluate and provide feedback on strategic fit, relevance, quality and deployment of the firm’s learning and development programs and make the necessary adjustments to realign with strategic objectives and training gaps
  • Pursue continuous improvement in the delivery of all learning and development programs while ensuring training content is always up to date and relevant
  • Responsible for budgeting and the overall financial management of learning and development programs
  • Responsible for the successful annual launch, training and administration of the firm’s Mentor Program 
  • Manage the Sponsor Program and Emerging Leadership Academy (ELA) Program which includes working with firm leadership in identifying protégés and sponsors
  • Responsible for all aspects of driving the High Performing Culture through the continual reinforcement of the 30 fundamentals
  • Oversee Cooleaf, the firm’s Rewards and Recognition Program
  • Responsible for the oversight of the firm’s research tools, guides and checklists administered through Checkpoint, CCH and BNA including the negotiation of the annual contracts and user licenses, integrating merged in firms, reviewing usage and managing the overall assignment of products through L&D  
Qualifications and Perks

Qualifications Needed:

  • 10+ years of experience developing large scale training and onboarding materials within a professional services environment
  • Related Bachelor’s degree. CPA preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cutting-edge, nimble, just-in-time tools and technology
  • Proven success in influencing Senior Stakeholders
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and develop relationships, navigate through complex matters and mange conflict
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills
  • Aptitude for thriving in a fast-paced, growing environment
