Description

The SQF Practitioner position is a full-time role.  This individual will lead in the development, implementation, and overseeing of food safety programs for PFSbrands across multiple sites.  He/She will be responsible for owning all systems and processes that deal with the SQF system.  He/She will be instrumental in ensuring all PFSbrands product is produced, received, stored, and distributed in a safe manner and within specification.  As the SQF Practitioner, he/she will take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System and communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as lead SQF Practitioner for PFSbrands distribution facility and PFS Blends manufacturing facility
  • Ensure adherence to all FDA, USDA, and PFSbrands regulations
  • Verify all SQF, GMP, GDP, HACCP, SOP, and SSOP procedures are followed
  • Act as lead trainer on all internal food safety systems for entire organization
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments
  • Update and document updates to senior site management on a routine basis on matters impacting the implementation and maintenance of the SQF System
  • Lead monthly food safety team meetings
  • Review and revise SQF and other related processes annually
  • Maintain detailed incident and corrective action reports
  • Responsible for document management system and all training associated with the document control processes
  • Maintain current HACCP certification approved by the International HACCP Alliance
  • Participate in SQF, FDA, USDA, and other food safety audits
  • Co-lead mock audits and assist with traceability and recall processes
  • Assist in ensuring inbound product meets all quality and safety criteria through auditing and rejection procedures as necessary
  • Assist with all complaint investigations and corrective actions
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Environmental Science, or related program preferred
  • Prior leadership responsibility in an SQF or other GFSI schemed facility is a plus
  • 2 years Food Defense system
  • HACCP and PCQI preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of Food Safety and Quality Systems
  • Very detailed and process-oriented
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and have the ability to learn other technology-based systems
  • Must be comfortable in a commercial cooking environment
  • Excellent communication skills with internal peers and customers

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Typical work will be performed in the distribution facility, manufacturing facility, and normal office conditions.
  • Travel will be limited, but occasional air/car travel may be required.
