Description

Position Overview

Produces visual solutions for use in marketing materials, training manuals, and other media. Plan, schedule and implement graphic design projects. Review design drafts, proofs camera-ready art, and ensure proper pagination and color assignment. Apply established corporate branding specifications to ensure work meets university guidelines. Assist in Web design and creating online content. May produce technical illustrations for manuals, brochures, labels, or other documents. The general schedule for this position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. 

 

Department Specific Essential Job Functions

Create brochures, flyers and other communication tools to promote library services, resources and programs. Assists with layout, design and production of the FOL newsletter. Assists with advertising and promotion of FOL special events, programming and outreach activities. Assists with advertising for fundraising campaigns and membership drives. Assists with the deployment of marketing materials physical and virtual. Assists with library wide publicity activities. Aids with posting content to Library social media accounts. Reports to the Asst. Dir. Library Chambers Library.

Qualifications

Experience Required

Requires a university degree in field or 7+ years of equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.

 

Experience Preferred

Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat is essential. Must be computer proficient with Microsoft Office.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines. Effective organizational and communication skills. Strong composition ability, proficiency with layout and design, ability to utilize brand identity effectively. Ability to format designs for multiple platforms (such as poster, webmail and pages, social media, large format banners, promotional items and others.) Comfortable with transitioning from one CS program to another is preferred. Must be a self-starter and have the ability to quickly learn new software and hardware as needed.

 

Physical Demands

Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
