Description

Scientific Protein Laboratories is a biopharmaceutical leader in the development and manufacturing of heparin, pancreatin, heparin derivatives, naturally derived pharmaceuticals, and recombinant proteins from microbial fermentation. We have an immediate opening in Waunakee, WI (Madison area) for a Reliability Engineer to join our growing team.

The focus of this position is to provide leadership to a skilled maintenance technical staff in the implementation of maintenance programs that support a reliable operation and extend the useful life of assets. The Reliability Engineer must communicate effectively and work closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering and R&D personnel and foster a team environment, both within the department and externally. The role of the reliability engineer is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations through loss elimination, risk management and life cycle asset management (LCAM). Responsible for supervising maintenance technicians and day-to-day maintenance operations.


Responsibilities

  • Works with engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations. The reliability engineer is responsible for adhering to the life cycle asset management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets.
  • Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an asset maintenance plan that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks and effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations to include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues.
  • Communicates effectively with Operations, Quality, R&D, and other departments to determine needs, opportunities, and priorities. Fosters teamwork at all levels.
  • Coordinates, arranges, and supervises maintenance personnel in the completion of corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities on all SPL equipment and facilities.
  • Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans. Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers. Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
  • Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and safety/security systems.
  • Provides input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operations.
Qualifications
  • Four year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Reliability) or related field required
  • Specialized post-graduate courses highly preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience. 5+ years of experience preferred
