PA 2-1-1 Southwest, an initiative of United Way, is part of a national network that connects people in need with human service help (such as food pantries, utility assistance, and resources for seniors) via phone (dialing 2-1-1), text, chat, and web-based self-service. Launched in 2011, PA 2-1-1 Southwest has grown from handling 20,000 calls to more than 120,000 inquiries across multiple communication channels every year. Recent innovations include piloting ways to connect individuals to assistance more holistically, and cost effectively serve more people through enhanced technology while maintaining high quality standards.

United Way of Southwest PA is looking for a dynamic professional to serve as the Projects Manager for 2-1-1. The Projects Manager is responsible for successfully managing and ensuring delivery of project outcomes for multiple existing projects, and identifying opportunities for new partnerships and projects that connect United Ways impact work and resources, 2-1-1s infrastructure and expertise, and external civic and non-profit partners to better meet community needs. The successful candidate will be results-oriented, a creative problem solver, have a collaborative working style, and embody a deep respect for diversity.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the implementation, expansion, and evaluation of 2-1-1s Integrated Referral Network (IRN), an online platform that allows collaborating non-profit agency partners to share (with permission) information about individuals in need of assistance to more effectively provide and monitor the delivery of service. The IRN is currently being piloted with small groups of agencies serving specific target populations, most notably with agencies funded to deliver UWs United for Women initiative. A primary responsibility of the 2-1-1 Projects Manager will be to oversee these pilot projects and develop strategies to improve and scale them.
  • Work closely with 2-1-1 and UW Community Impact Staff to identify ways to partner strategically to improve the quality of and access to information about specific areas of UWs Community Impact work such as establishing 2-1-1 Resource Navigators that are deeply focused on the needs of seniors, veterans, or young children.
  • Assist the 2-1-1 Director with securing and managing new funded partnerships that build on the expertise and infrastructure of 2-1-1 to meet the teams objective of securing $450,000 in incremental contracts within the next three years.
  • Work in collaboration with Community Impact staff to prepare requests and reports for funding support from foundations and donors for select initiatives, projects, and agency programs, especially those that utilize 2-1-1. Track progress on accomplishments and outcomes.
  • Manage the non-technical components of HIPAA compliance for 2-1-1 including hardening of our physical space and policies and procedures.

Salary: $52,000 - $58,000 per year with generous benefits package including 31 paid days off per year and no cost health, dental and vision coverage for individuals.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in public administration, social work or the equivalent and two years of related work experience.
