Primary Responsibilities

  • Promote and effectively sell banks consumer, small business, and commercial depository products to current and prospective customers, including checking, savings, insured money market, certificate of deposit, individual retirement, health savings, Certificate of Deposit Account Registry Service (CDARS), and Insured Cash Sweep (ICS)
  • Promote depository services that create customer loyalty, including safe deposit box, direct deposit, automatic withdrawal, online banking, bill pay, ATM/Visa CheckCard
  • Prepare and compile new customer application and information. Collect and verify customer identification and secure appropriate documentation. Prepare all new account forms, disclosures, and materials, effectively communicating purpose/function of each to customer
  • Communicate and coordinate with appropriate bank staff on servicing and maintenance of accounts
  • Maintain regulatory compliance in all depository accounts/transactions
  • Identify sales referrals (cross-sales) including working closely with Treasury Manager, commercial lenders, mortgage department, and investment representatives to identify cross-sales opportunities and make joint calls to sell additional bank products/services
  • Initiate customer and prospect contact in person and via phone to support bank promotions, events, and activities
  • Attend monthly branch meetings and report progress on sales activities and individual sales, cross sales, and referral goals, reporting regularly on individual contribution to team results
  • Greet all customers, taking a personal interest in each and establish rapport
  • Monitor and track depository missing documents for timely resolution and accurate retention
  • Provide initial and ongoing service to customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially
  • Explain policies and procedures as necessary, resolve customer issues, and escalate difficult issues to other sources for assistance
  • Introduce new customers to the Branch Manager and other appropriate personnel and show appreciation for the customers time and business
  • Inform and advise customers of status or enhancements to current account(s) and suggest resolution on account disputes and other account activity; provide follow-up to assure resolution is achieved on all customer service issues
  • Participate in marketing campaigns and initiatives for the branch/bank and participate in proactive business development through telemarketing or outside sales calls
  • Provide customer service that ensures current customers stay with the bank, while providing opportunities for new customers to join the bank
  • Ensure that customer follow up is completed in a timely manner
  • Provide training for new and existing retail employees (i.e. Banks products and services, new accounts training, etc.)
  • Maintain safe deposit box operations including opening and closing of vault, maintenance of entry cards and vault entry log, system maintenance, and all other related safe deposit box responsibilities
  • Assist with and provide back up for teller responsibilities: Accept deposits of cash, checks and loan payments of all types, process withdrawals and cash check up to designated limits, sell cashiers checks, money orders and process cash advance on credit/debit cards, help prepare and verify Fed shipments, help audits and balance vault and cash recyclers.
  • Maintain current knowledge about the importance, requirements, and procedures for completing Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Regulation CC holds

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Report suspicious transactions, activity, or situations to appropriate personnel whenever necessary and appropriate
  • Attend bank events and depository promotions that reach existing and prospective customers, including trade shows, seminars, and conferences
  • Survey bank competitors to assure that AVB products/services are competitively structured/priced
  • Process bank check orders and billing with review of processes and costs
  • Travel to other AVB Bank Branches for retail coverage as needed
  • Other duties as assigned for the efficient and effective functioning of the branch and department

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, or four to six years related experience
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Windows, MS Office, and banking software
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Intermediate math, reading, writing, and communication skills
