Description

CellNetix Pathology and Laboratories is looking for a per diem Autopsy Technician to cover our Western Washington hospital sites in Tacoma, Olympia, Everett, Edmonds, with possible Spokane, and also Anchorage, AK travel. This individual will perform a variety of advanced technical duties involved in the preparation of autopsies and the dissection of bodies in support of surgical pathology; assist medical personnel throughout the autopsy procedure.

Job Duties

  • Preparation of autopsies and the dissection of bodies, to include evisceration and removal of brain, separation of organ blocks and special dissection techniques; sterilize/disinfect instruments, set up equipment and supplies, and prepare specimens as directed.
  • Weighing and measuring human remains.
  • Photographing organs as required.
  • Sutures and cleans remains upon completion of autopsy.
  • Reviews autopsy orders and body release forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information on all cases; abides by HIPAA Rules.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of the morgue and its associated equipment.
  • Assist in training of others as required.
  • Inventory and stocking supplies.
  • Contacts funeral homes regarding release and pick up of decedents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:
High school education or GED.

Experience:
1 year of experience in autopsy procedures and practices, including evisceration, preferred. Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT, & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to life and/or maneuver bodies and equipment
  • Bending
  • Walking
  • Ability to lift >50 lbs. and maneuver bodies of 300 lbs. or more independently or with assistance.
  • Manual dexterity
  • Traveling to hospital sites, to include overnight travel as necessary
  • Ability to properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:
Valid driver's license.
