Army and Navy Academy has immediate openings for school nurses —various hours and shifts available. 


  1. Under the direction of facility director or facility physician, administers medicines (including OTC medicines) and treats symptomatic complaints according to the Standard Operating Procedure guidelines.
  2. Administers treatment therapies to injured or sick cadets according to the SOP guidelines.
  3. Document cadet chief complaint & symptoms, monitor and follow-up with additional care as needed.
  4. Administer medications as prescribed by a physician.
  5. Check medical administration record (MAR) daily for compliance and accuracy.
  6. Update MAR with current doctors orders in coordination with health care providers and families.
  7. Provide and maintain a log for the daily check of controlled medications.
  8. Sign off on and destroy out of date and discontinued medications
  9. Maintain documentation of destroyed medications in a file for one year
  10. Facilitate Academy physician sick call by triaging patients and following physician orders.
  11. Facilitate communication with families regarding cadet conditions.
  12. Implement and execute a daily system of reporting between shifts and to Director of Health Center of cadet conditions of concern.
  13. Coordinate and oversee information between caregivers regarding medical conditions.
  14. Ensure cadet compliance with ANA facility requirements regarding health matters (i.e. immunizations, physical, consent to treat and insurance).
  15. Schedules appointments with outside medical services in coordination with transportation, and as directed by facility director.
  16. Participates in compliance with ANA policies on drug and tobacco testing and treatment modalities.
  17. Note and maintain a list of medical variances in cadets chart by health history, copy to other departments within compliance of HIPPA regulations.
  18. Assist and support DHC with reports, background information, policies, and investigation of medical information.
  19. Discusses good health habits and positive choices with cadets.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Current CA State license.

  1. Current CRP AHA certification.
  2. Five years of experience, preferred.
  3. Emergency or Urgent Care background preferred.
  4. ACLS desired.
  5. Advanced and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Must relate and work with persons of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.
  7. Strong computer and organizational skills and able to work independently.
