Located in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, Lake Junaluska is a conference and retreat center that hosts over 50,000 overnight guests annually. We have over 400 lodging rooms, a campground, and meeting space for up to 2,000 people. All of our facilities are located on a scenic 1,200 acre campus which boasts panoramic views, abundant recreation opportunities, and a 200 acre lake. Our market ranges from youth groups to affluent leisure guests primarily from the Southeastern US.

Essential Functions

  • Must possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of Christian hospitality to “exceed guest expectations”.
  • Responsible for cleaning, parking, fill carts with gas, and preparing golf carts for daily operation.
  • Maintain clean and neat surroundings of the parking lot, cart staging area, bag drop area, and cart storage area.
  • Take out trash as needed.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to supervisor or the Human Resources department.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to safely operate golf carts.
  • Must have good communication skills, and a commitment to providing responsive and conscientious customer service.
  • Able to prioritize task, and allocate time efficiently.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs, multiple task demands, and work structures.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.

Performance/Success Factors

  • Be punctual to work functions; perform well in a team environment; complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner; mindful of assignments and able to prioritize tasks and events.
  • Perform routine duties with minimal supervision; occasional check of work while in progress; work will be reviewed upon completion.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

Working Conditions

  • Moderate physical activity performing strenuous activities with moderate to loud noise.
  • Primary work is outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions. i.e. rain, sun, snow, wind, heat.
  • Occasionally works indoors in well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Ability to coordinate work, frequently moves about, able to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, talk to and hear staff and customer requests.
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift, carry or otherwise move and/or position objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to see close and at a distance (20 feet or more), good peripheral vision.
