Assistant/Associate Professor of Sport Management
DEPARTMENT: Sport Management
Nichols College, a business-oriented, four-year College, is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor in Sport Management, beginning either January 2022 or July 2022. This is a non-tenure track, three-year renewable appointment with opportunity to transfer to the tenure track in the third year.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to effective and creative teaching, will have a developing or existing research agenda-with the potential to integrate students and will have a practice of engaging with the sport business community. For this position, an earned doctorate is expected. Candidates should possess expertise in two or more of the following areas: Sociology of Sport, Sport Finance, Sport Law, Sport Sponsorship, Sport Sales, Sport Governance, Event/Facilities Management, Sport Marketing, Content Creation, Sport Communications, Sport Broadcasting, Global/International Sport Business, or Sport Coaching.
Additional duties include advising, student internship coordination, participation in College governance, academic collaboration, and active involvement in the Nichols community.
The teaching responsibility is a 24-credit annual load, including introductory and upper-level courses, with an expectation that all instruction will focus on experiential learning.
The Sport Management Department, housed in the School of Business, offers three undergraduate business concentrations Sport Management, Sport Marketing & Content Creation, and Sport Sales & Strategy. There is also a Certificate in Sport Coaching & Team Development. The program offers multiple opportunities for faculty led travel, course development in areas of interest and is predicated on the notion that a great idea can come from anywhere.
