Job Description: Enrichment Teacher

Reporting to: Principal

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Two years of urban teaching experience preferred (elementary setting k-4 preferred)

  • Bilingual Spanish desirable

Whole School Responsibilities

  • Supervise lunch and bathroom breaks and participate in rotating supervision

  • Uphold attendance procedures each period using School Information Systems (SIS)

  • Enthusiastically participate in school-wide culture events (i.e., Songfest, academic assemblies, and Field Day)

  • Perform other duties as assigned


 

Primary Function: Develop and implement an integrated, standards-based Music curriculum that utilizes instructional methods in the appropriate subject matter and grade levels. Create a healthy and safe learning environment that demonstrates respect for all and supports student success. Communicate and partner effectively with parents to support student learning. Evaluate student learning and adapt to evaluation data to continually improve our academic program.

 

  • Contribute to the design of a rigorous, well-rounded music and art program

  • Designing lessons in music and art, which include opportunities for critical listening, theory, and performance

  • Planning, rehearsing, conducting and directing pupils in musical programs/performances for school and parents

  • Planning, directing, and supporting pupils/teachers in art shows for school and parents

  • Planning, preparing, and implementing music and art lesson plans that utilize a variety of instructional strategies

  • Leading and planning community morning assemblies

  • Assisting lead teachers with instruction in the general classroom during the times you are not teaching music or art to support with subject matter integration

  • Maintaining high expectations for students’ learning and overall conduct

  • Communicating and building positive relationships with students, students’ families, colleagues and other stakeholders

  • Working collaboratively in a professional learning community and participating in curriculum and developmental programs, as applicable.

  • Developing authentic ways of assessing student progress, and maintaining records of student learning

  • Adhering to school policies, procedures and deadlines

  • Model professional behaviors and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the broader community.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Assist in yard supervision during recess and lunch periods

  • Assist teachers in integrating and planning music and art to curriculum

  • Assist in before/after school carpool

  • Assist in other school programs when necessary.


 

Salary and Benefits:

Salary:       $25.00 per hour

Status:       Full Time

Start Date:   An exceptional candidate will assume a full time role no later than August 2019.
