Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Maintenance Technician you are responsible for the repair and upkeep of the facilities.  Responsibilities include general maintenance tasks that may require specialized training. Part of your job is to recognize when the task is above your skill level and should be handled by an electrician, plumber, refrigeration mechanic, or another specialized technician.

Responsibilities

•             Handling assigned work orders and PMs (inspections, oil changes, lubing/greasing, etc.).

•             Performing a variety of routine maintenance tasks.

•             Dealing with incoming work requests.

•             Communicating existing and potential issues with your supervisors; most often maintenance manager or facilities manager.

•             Using CMMS or paper records to log maintenance work.

•             Cleaning and maintaining the tools, equipment & shop you work with.

•             Abiding by safety measures and policies.

•             Solving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various production and facility equipment.

•             Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns.

•             Reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, electrical schematics, blueprints, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance work.

•             (Dis)assembling/installing new machines, equipment, etc.

•             Evaluating, repairing, and maintaining plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC systems in the buildings.

•             Receiving and responding to mechanical or maintenance issues on the premises.

•             Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.

•             Plan and schedule repairs.

•             Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard.

•             Maintain the inventory records for equipment and supplies.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

•             Certificate(s) in building maintenance, electrical, mechanical, hydraulics/pneumatics or relevant field is preferred.

•             A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

•             Strong understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.

•             Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.

•             Effective problem-solving abilities.

•             Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

•             Must be well- organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks.

•             Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems.

•             Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds.

•             Broad technical knowledge.

•             Attention to detail.

•             Basic computer skills.
