SUMMARY

Working under the supervision of the Dean, the Librarian manages the Learning Resource Center (LRC) in support of the academic mission of the campus.  Ensures LRC functions properly and assists students, faculty, and staff in its use.  This position supports a campus which offers bachelor’s degree level program(s).  All Concorde associates are required to display professionalism and uphold Concorde’s Mission and the core values of respect for the individual, integrity, teamwork, customer service, and achievement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a neat and organized inviting student services area in the Learning Resource Center
  • Oversees library department desk; trains and directs student assisting in these duties; serves as resource on questions regarding policies and procedures
  • Assists faculty, students, and other patrons by answering questions, handling problems, and teaching library procedures; answers phone; responds to phone-in questions or refers to appropriate office or individual
  • Oversees re-shelving of library materials to ensure that they are easily available to patrons
  • Processes new material coming into department, ensuring that it can be located quickly and easily
  • Monitors supply inventory, restocking as necessary
  • Maintains library databases; updates and purges as necessary; compiles and collates information from databases and prepares reports on library use
  • Monitors equipment; performs minor maintenance
  • Coordinates tutoring as needed
  • Assists with testing as needed
  • Assists with campus events as needed
  • Report any student concerns or issues to the Dean and Program Director
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

OTHER COMMENTS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires some evening and weekend work

 

* This position is for our Broadway & St. Joseph Medical Center Locations, must be able to travel to both locations. *

Qualifications
  • Master's degree MLIS or MIS required.  (Masters required where bachelors program offered)
  • Knowledge of library system and procedures. Prior library experience is highly preferred
  • Must be able to develop familiarity with all LRC resources, mastery of LRC Online resources, and mastery of various reference interview techniques to maximize personal effectiveness in meeting the research needs of students, staff, and faculty
  • Must have strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet etc.). Experience in troubleshooting basic computer problems is a definite plus
  • Experience using online databases, Internet, and traditional print resources
  • Familiarity with copiers and microfilm readers/printers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possess excellent customer service skills and be well organized and self-motivated
  • Sufficient experience to provide oversight and supervision to the Learning Resource Center
