Commercial Loan Officer

AVB Bank is poised for growth and actively seeking a Commercial Lender to contribute to our Lending team. The ideal candidate is currently managing and growing a portfolio of commercial loans and therefore able to build on their relationships to develop a portfolio with AVB.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and manage individual loan portfolio according to established strategies, policies, and procedures
• Interview customers and prospects to develop information about their businesses, needs, abilities, and earnings to identify additional or future business opportunities and determine whether a loan may be an acceptable risk
• Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information to determine credit worthiness
• Establish and negotiate the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method and schedule, and collateral
• Make decisions on loans and terms within established lending limits, or make recommendations to higher authority on larger, more complex loans
• Develop materials for and make loan presentations to the Executive Loan Committee when required
• Follow current loans in portfolio to ensure complete compliance with terms
• Review and make decisions daily on commercial overdrafts for customers in portfolio.
• Actively participate in lending meetings
• Represent the Bank by participating in community activities or organizations to increase the banks visibility and enhance or identify business opportunities
• Supervise Loan Assistant or other support staff, as assigned
• Maintain current knowledge regarding lending regulations for commercial loans and ensuring the Bank is compliant
• Maintain knowledge of available bank products for cross-selling or making customer referrals to appropriate banker who can meet the individual need
• Attend, facilitate and participate in internal and external meetings as requested
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Maintain confidentiality of customer and employee information

Minimum Qualifications

• Five (5) to eight (8) years of commercial lending experience as a loan officer
• Intermediate skills with MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel and MS Word
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements

Time spent standing: 10%

Lifting: Up to 20 pounds Frequency: Minimal

Other: Ability to speak and hear clearly. Ability to travel outside of the bank for customer calls and to other bank branch locations. Ability to efficiently process data, discern patterns, and recognize inconsistencies in information.
