The Assistant Director of the Extended Day Program is a part-time, non-benefit eligible, position reporting to the Director of Extended Day. The individual in this role will have the opportunity to oversee and execute all program logistics, ranging from the scheduling of different activities, supervision of staff involvement, curriculum practices, procurement of materials, and ensuring the ultimate success of the afternoon program. This program is licensed under the Virginia Department of Social Services Child Day Care regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- In the absence of the Director of Extended Day, manage all operations and employees of the program
- Partner on and support running the day-to-day operations of the Extend Day Program
- Follow all procedures and guidelines outlined by the Virginia Department of Social Services
- Interact with parents handling all Extended Day communications and concerns
- Maintain records of individual children and extended day staff per DSS guidelines
- Ensure that all interactions with children have a positive tone and manner, supporting children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts
- Work closely with other Potomac departments to monitor and coordinate student’s participation in the extended day program
- Plan and participate in on-campus activities and/or field trips for child care days, throughout the year
- Oversee room set-up, snack preparation and arrival and departure procedures
- Organize and participate in all children’s play or recreational activities
- Instruct children in healthy personal habits
- Monitor children’s rest/quiet time and assist with homework as needed
- Maintain all equipment and materials so that the environment is safe and clean
- Perform other duties as assigned
