Lower Long-term School substitute teachers facilitate hands-on projects, promote collaboration among students, and prompt students to reflect on their classroom work. These teachers are attuned to the specific learning needs and social and emotional development of each student.

Supervisor: Division Head
Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct reports
Position Status: Daily rate, exempt, part-time, temporary, as needed
Hours of Work: Standard work week.
- Providing instruction, managing the classroom environment and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Deep and thorough knowledge of the subject matter
- Ability to conduct classes in the target language
- Proficiency with instructional technology
- Perform other duties as assigned
In addition to teaching experience, successful candidates demonstrate a love of working with children, an engaging teaching style, the ability to interact well with parents and colleagues, and a willingness to create and promote an inclusive learning environment.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience working with children is preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required.
