We are looking for a GIS Intern to join our team and help continue to keep our mapping practices on the cutting edge to serve our stakeholders and community. GIS Interns will support water budgeting initiatives and play a supporting role in developing water related policies in our community, all while gaining hands on GIS experience!

This is an exciting opportunity for a student or recent graduate with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn about water mapping and technology. The ideal candidate for this role must have some experience or coursework in Esri’s desktop GIS Software and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a highly productive team of fun and friendly people. This role will also do some outside field work and data verification. How cool to work outside in the Colorado summer!? Additional benefits include a $300 monthly housing stipend, paid Holidays, and opportunities for training.

The preferred dates for this internship are from mid-May through September.

What You Will Do:

• Edit proprietary ERWSD GIS data in ArcGIS Pro
• Assist GIS Coordinator in preparing .PDF maps as needed
• Utilize ArcGIS Online to disseminate data or create maps
• Import AutoCAD drawings into ArcGIS Pro and manipulate construction GIS data
• Analyze aerial imagery and prepare reports on residential irrigation practices
• Collaborate regularly with water resources staff in order to support water budget program
• Perform regular field work by collecting GPS or ground-truthing imagery observations
• Other projects as assigned
• Required to follow all District safety and security policies and wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by the job duties

• High School diploma or GED or Collegiate level coursework in Geography, GIS, Geology, Environmental Sciences, or other related field(s). Or pursuing a technical degree from a Technical, Scientific or Trade Institution in a related course.
• Experience or coursework in Esri GIS suite of software and AutoCAD drawings. 
• Experience or coursework with GPS units and mapping software desirable.
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills. 
• Must be comfortable interfacing with people on a regular basis. 
• Ability to prioritize.
• The ability to work as a flexible member of a team is a must.
• Strong communication skills
• Must be willing to work outside in variable weather conditions as this role will work outside and collect field data occasionally.
• Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and be insurable by District standards. 
• Required to follow all District safety and security policies and wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by the job duties

The pay range for this role is $17-$19.95 /hour
