Position Summary: The Spa Manager- Massage and Spa reports directly to the Spa Director and in the absence of the Spa Director, steps in to make decisions and oversee the day to day operations of the Spa Services leadership, Massage Therapists, Estheticians, Nail Technicians, Spa Concierge and Spa Attendants. The Spa Manager- Massage and Spa will directly manage the Spa Supervisor, Salon and Retail Manager and Massage Manager(s). There is a large focus on retailing, services and sales goals in these areas and the Spa Manager- Massage and Spa is part responsible for meeting those goals respectively. Nurture the experience of all Glen Ivy guests, from the initial greeting to the warm farewell in both the Spa Lifestyle Store and the Spa Salon. He or she will manage sales, staff, schedules, and product; ensure operational and merchandising functions of the Massage Villas, Salon and Spa Lifestyle store are in place and utilized in order to attain maximum profitability, productivity, and superb guest service.

Results Expected: To provide effective and efficient leadership of staff, management of products, inventory, guest service and employee relations. Guest service and Guest satisfaction is a priority to the team, more so than the sale. Provide excellent guest service to ensure that we retain guests for the future and inevitably promote the business. “The sale” becomes a natural second and guests will feel connected to and partial to give us their business. The Spa Manager- Massage and Spa will take charge of situations, delegate and follow through with resolutions appropriately.

Position Qualification Requirements:

License(s):, Massage Therapist a plus but not required                                                                            

Education/Training: High School Diploma Required, Bachelors or BBA in Management or Hospitality & Tourism Management preferred but not required.                                


  • 3 years Hospitality experience preferred
  • 3 years Leadership experience preferred
  • Resort/Spa experience, a plus

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Motivate and direct staff
  • Maintain a daily, consistent presence among Service Providers
  • Effectively carry out Guest recoveries
  • Adjust service provider’s schedules
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings (Department and company)
  • Daily or Weekly updates and recap to the Director of Spa
  • Completion of Purchase Orders when necessary
  • Create sales Goals- daily, weekly, monthly, annual
  • Manage Stock levels
  • Perform area walks for stock, check-in and cleanliness
  • Execution of the Marketing Calendar initiatives
  • Communication to staff any and all pertinent information
  • Attend trade shows, minimum bi-annually
  • Participate in the Quarterly department meetings
  • Ensure treatment room utilization is at maximum profitability; closely monitoring and adjusting service provider schedules
  • Enforce treatment room sanitation and treatment room equipment maintenance/inventory
  • Deliver routine coaching, performance improvement plan counseling’s and corrective actions to employees
  • Ensure current licensing, continuing education and license renewals are following the Service Provider License Renew Policy
  • Drive and support retail sales minimums in Salon and Spa Lifestyle Store
  • Oversee product control, inventory and purchasing of necessary budgeted supplies with monthly cycle counts and quarterly full retail and back bar inventories
  • Ensure completion of the service provider’s Balanced Score Cards
  • Update quarterly schedule alignment based on Balanced Score Card number within the job families
  • Work with the Marketing Team, Training Team and the Operations Team in determining scheduling needs/demands
  • Respond to pre-booked and projected service reports
  • Exemplify a positive attitude at all times
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with individual employees, other Managers, and leadership, all Glen Ivy Associates and Glen Ivy vendors
  • Actively participate in brainstorming & creative idea sessions
  • Hold employees accountable for retail sales expectations on a pay period basis
  • Maintaining the Purchase Order Log
  • Act as the Company liaison/contact for contracted linen services
  • Ensure that the team attends required meetings: sales, safety, monthly department, and participate in others as needed
  • Oversee physical inventories and regular cycle counts
  • Ensure staff is able to take proper lunch breaks and provide coverage as needed for Breaks

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of personal integrity and standards
  • Must follow and enforce all company policies at all times
  • Act as interdepartmental liaison, coordinating operations between departments
  • Ensure that all departments are operating safely and that premises are set up safely
  • Constantly work to maximize revenues by initiating strategies that encourage the up selling of services
  • Responsible for ensuring staff is able to take proper lunch breaks and provide coverage as needed for breaks
  • Demonstrate an accurate knowledge of all services offered and a vast knowledge of the operations of the spa
  • Enforce all alcoholic beverage policies
  • Be prepared to deal with emergency guest first aid incidents in a manner that protects our staff, guests and the company
  • Complete and distribute all necessary reporting as needed
  • Assist in creating budget forecasts and communicating budget needs of each area of spa services
  • Ensure the proper functioning and availability of equipment necessary using a revolving inventory list of equipment in each room
  • Complete performance reviews as needed for 90 day, annual, promotion and demotions.
  • Create projections for hiring
  • Assist in the interview and selection process of new hire employees
  • Assist in the training and acclimation of new employees
  • Edit/audit department documents in the Glen Ivy Way as needed
  • Actively participate in the Glen Ivy Way
  • Be familiar with Service Protocols
  • Provide follow up training and assessments of employees
  • Address guest concerns with employees and log on the infractions log
  • Schedule retraining on an “as needed” basis
  • Support and nurture employees in developing their skills
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends in the Massage/Salon/resort/wellness/Retail industries and share with the team
  • Constant review of profitability
  • Track and report on promotions as per the individual plan
  • Lead or participate in the morning kick-off meeting
  • Opening and Closing duties as needed
  • Assist in staff training in product knowledge, brand identity, general Resort information
  • Meet labor budget
  • Oversee product control using the first in first out policy
