Job Qualifications

  1. Must have a BA/BFA in graphic design, illustration, fine arts or related field
  2. Must have 5 years of relevant work experience in design role
  3. Must have demonstrated, expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
  4. Must have an eye for aesthetics and details
  5. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  6. Must have the ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
  7. Must have experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  8. Background and understanding of craft beer and hop industry a plus but not required

As the Graphic Design Specialist you will help drive Yakima Chief Hops’ mission of connecting family hop farms to the world’s finest brewers by developing unique and creative design concepts to further elevate the brand. You will create the design rationale and principles that support creative solutions while adhering to the creative strategy based on project briefs, creative criteria, and expected timing and production needs.

Job Duties:

  1. Study design briefs and determine requirements
  2. Schedule projects and define budget constraints
  3. Conceptualize visuals based on requirements
  4. Prepare rough drafts and present ideas
  5. Develop illustrations, logos and other designs using software or by hand
  6. Work within an established brand guidelines
  7. Work with copywriters and brand manager to produce final design
  8. Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand
  9. Test graphics across various media
  10. Amend designs after feedback
  11. Lead design of marketing materials in all areas. Materials would include, but are not limited to:
    1. Advertising (print and digital), packaging, stationery, internal/external forms, presentations, event materials, sales materials, reports, signage, and merchandise
  12. Assist Brand Manager with 3rd party logo/trademark request fulfillment and tracking
  13. Work with print vendors to gather quotes and assist with proofing process
  14. Some travel required to farms, breweries and events
  15. Maintain sanitary and safe work environment.
  16. Follow safety requirements.
  17. May actively participate on company’s Safety Committee.
  18. Under the direction of Safety department, ensure that company safety policies as well as federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations are observed.
  19. Must have a complete understanding of company’s policies, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP and cGMP that pertain to their department to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability.
  20. Must adhere to all company policies.
  21. Examine documents, materials, and products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.
  22. Follow all SOPs in a given area.
  23. Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager and/or designee.
