Purpose:

Use creativity and problem-solving skills to assist in fulfilling our county requirements as a service provider for employees. Strengthen independent job related skills with participants. Patiently work alongside people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Increase awareness and advocacy skills while learning from people with disabilities. Demonstrate inclusion into various departments and enhance employability.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide vocational and work related coaching in conjuncture with natural employment supports.
  • Basic knowledge of DVR, DDA, and DSB
  • Effectively communicate and build relationships with teammates, participants, caregivers, DDA, and supervisors
  • Manage a daily fluctuating schedule and maintain steady attendance
  • Empower people with disabilities to reach their potential and learn new job skills
  • Keep documentation and reports up to date and on time
  • Ensure safe working environment
  • Advocate equity for all participants in their work environment
  • Support creation of new job skills/tasks throughout Seattle location
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • AA or BA in Special Education, Rehabilitation or related field and/or equivalent job knowledge and experience OR
  • Two or more years of experience working with adults who have a developmental disability 
  • ASL level 6 (preferred)
  • Ability to modify communication styles to better serve participants' understanding
  • Demonstrated skills in documentation, communication, report writing
  • Demonstrate minimum of intermediate computer skills including Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, and online reporting systems
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain regular attendance and work in a team
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds
  • Ability to spend the majority of time standing and walking
  • Ability to provide sighted human guide to individuals
  • Complete a background check as required by our contracts
