Summary:
The Manager of Information Systems and Technology is responsible for managing, directing, and coordinating the development and deployment of information systems and technology resources to achieve the mission and goals of the university under guidance and direction from the Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations. Responsibilities include oversight of hardware, software and infrastructure; development and execution of policies, budget and strategy; planning and implementation of IST projects; and contract management.
Essential Functions:
Leadership Duties and Skills
Works with leadership and managed services in developing overall network technology strategy for Judson University
- Works with managed services to develop and maintain network infrastructure plan including: server, storage, network/infrastructure, disaster recovery business continuity plans, and cloud services.
- Develops and, upon approval, implements all IST policies and procedures, including: security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
- Enforces policies and procedures to ensure the protection of the universities technology assets and the integrity, security, and accessibility and appropriate confidentiality of data.
- Coaches and directs IST staff in operational activities to ensure compliance with university goals, objectives, and approved budget.
- Along with leadership, manages IST staffing: recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions.
- Participates in IST annual budget, providing justification when needed. Reviews and compares actual results to planned budgetary performance.
Establish and Enforce Team and Individual Accountability
- Sets clearly defined performance expectations and measurements for self and technology team members.
- Consistently monitors performance and assesses competency of the IST technical team members.
- Takes timely, appropriate actions to address substandard performers and when necessary administer progressive discipline.
- Holds self and technology team members accountable in meeting stated objectives, timetables and commitments.
Monitoring and Communication
- Manage, review and effectively communicate status of projects related to technology projects to supervisor and fellow staff members.
- Work with the IST staff and university leadership to manage and monitor the expectations of impacted personnel regarding applications related projects.
- Effectively use a variety of techniques (visual, verbal, and written) to ensure clear and timely communication to the IST staff, university leadership, customers, and IS stakeholders.
Promote teamwork and collaboration

- Facilitates group learning and problem solving.
- Initiates formal and informal activities designed to promote team building among technical team members.
- Serve on several university committees as the IST representative.
Management Duties and Skill
- Participates in negotiation and administration of vendor, consultant and service contracts.
- Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and vendor maintenance contracts.
- Make purchasing recommendations and monitors contract performance to ensure the University receives the full scope of service detained in IT contracts.
- Coordinates with technology vendors and university personnel to ensure procurement procedures are followed such as purchasing of technology and software or managing copier contracts.
Technical Duties and Skills
- Work with managed service provider to support infrastructure, purchase, install, monitor, and maintain local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) equipment and resources, as well as servers.
- Develop and maintain technical standards for the college.
- Manage and aid in maintaining data network.
- Manage and aid in installation and maintenance of servers.
- Manage and oversee information technology security, creating group policies and scripts, manage antivirus, computer management and network admissions control applications
- Coordinate the setup, configuration and repair of all computer systems.
Supervisory Responsibility:
