The Opportunity.

This full-time, year-round, Innkeeper position manages the overall engagement and hospitality experience at Field Farm Reservation, including The Guest House (B&B) and the surrounding 300-acre property. They report to the Director of Recreational Enterprises and will be involved in the strategic planning and stewardship of the property. The position will require flexible hours and includes housing across the street from the Inn. This opportunity may be suitable for couples as well. 

 

The Innkeeper must have knowledge, skills, and experience in the hospitality industry. They must understand and be able to manage the Inn within the parameters set forth by The Trustees of Reservations.  

 

In This Role You Will:

  • Ensure that all Inn procedures are followed and develop best practices to enhance guest service, food & beverage offerings, and efficient operations of the Bed & Breakfast. 

  • Maintain a professional, courteous demeanor always and create an atmosphere of excellence and warmth for guests.  

  • Oversee front desk operations and reservation system (Rezstream) – ensure efficient reservations, check-in, check-out, and inquiries.  

  • Provide Concierge Service- Help direct guests to area attractions and help secure dining reservations. Introduce guests and visitors to the services of the inn as needed. 

  • Be an enthusiastic ambassador of The Trustees, promote Trustees membership and link guests to the work of the organization.  

  • Handle all telephone calls in a friendly, appropriate manner. 

  • Manage booking database software and use it to generate financial statements and marketing reports.  

  • Purchase all food, beverage, housekeeping, and other supplies according to the needs of the operation and inventory levels.  

  • Supervise and train Inn staff and oversee all property events, including art and sculpture tours, receptions, and corporate meetings. 

  • Manage payroll, as well as hiring and onboarding of new seasonal staff.  

  • Attend staff and community meetings and work with other staff members in the region, including volunteers and committees, as assigned. 

  • Assist Director in preparation of budget and follow budget guidelines for all expenses. 

  • Work with Director to develop annual marketing and advertising plan for Inn.   

  • Work with Trustees Marketing department to strengthen the social media presence through outlets such as Facebook and Instagram.  

  • Develop and market opportunities to enhance guests experience at Inn and other Trustees properties through packages, collaborations, and special events. 

  • Collaborate with area tourism organizations to promote visibility of the Inn and the Trustees. 

  • Identify issues and manage 3rd party contractors as needed (e.g., plumber or another contractor)  

Other Information

Education and Experience:           

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration or related field is highly desirable.  Experience in the hospitality industry may, at the discretion of The Trustees, be considered as a substitute for the educational component listed above. 

 

Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a variety of people, including co-workers, committee members, volunteers, consultants, contractors, public officials, and the public.  

  • Proven ability to supervise and motivate staff. 

  • Must possess strong organizational skills as well as exceptional written and public presentation skills. Knowledge of Windows based operating system and related software is required. 

  • Must have an unwavering attention to detail and be self-motivated with ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. 

 

Other:                                         

  • Possess an understanding of Trustees mission and knowledge of local area, particularly the Williamstown community. 

  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends is required.  

  • Must have flexibility to be on call for late night emergent needs of guests. 

  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle, as well as a satisfactory driving record.  

  • A satisfactory criminal background check (CORI). 

  • I am willing to travel locally using a personal vehicle (Reimbursed for mileage). 

  • The ability to lift 40 lbs. independently and spend periods of time standing during events. 

 

Organizational Relationships/Scope: 

The Innkeeper reports to the Director of Recreational Enterprises and oversees and works closely with the Inn staff as well as other Trustee staff members across the organization.
