  9. Willingness and reliable capacity to travel daily between production facilities if needed.
  10. Willingness to work weekends during harvest
  11. Ability to lift (up to 50 lbs), carry (up to 44 lbs) occasionally to frequently within normal limits.
  12. Willingness to work in agricultural environment where environmental conditions can change from cool to hot throughout the day.
  13. Handle hazardous chemicals safely according to their SDS’s and SOP’s.
  14. Must have a valid driver’s license. 

Job Summary:

Yakima Chief Hops is seeking a motivated team member to assist in hop harvest studies. This position is centered around assisting the Field Research Agronomist is field sampling and analysis of hop samples. A strong candidate pays close attention to detail, has strong communication skills, and works well in a team environment. This position shall be filled mid-August through October.

Time Frame: 10-week internship program with a target hire start date of August 15th 2022

Job Duties:

  1. Travel to hop farms to sample hop plants
  2. Transport hop sample to varying processing facilities
  3. Record observations and pertinent data in laboratory notebook or approved company forms
  4. Prepare hop samples for analysis and analyze according to company’s SOP’s
  5. Operate laboratory equipment such as laboratory oven, ultra-low temperature freezer, freeze dryer, distillation apparatuses, moisture balance, water activity meter, hop grinder and UV Spectrophotometer.
  6. Record data in appropriate excel sheets as designated by Field Research Agronomist.
  7. Handle all chemicals safely, properly and store in proper containment.  
  8. Dispose of hazardous waste properly and legally. 
  9. Clean all necessary glass ware and equipment and return to proper storage
  10. Maintain sanitary and safe work environment and follow safety requirements.
  11. May actively participate on company’s Safety Committee.
  12. Ensure that company safety policies as well as federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations are observed.
  13. Must have a complete understanding of company’s policies, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP and cGMP that pertain to their department to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability.
  14. Must adhere to all company policies.
  15. Examine documents, materials, and products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.
  16. Follow all SOPs in a given area.
  17. Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager and/or designee.
