Job summary:

Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX) is seeking a bilingual (Spanish) Social Media and Public Relations Manager to help us spread the story of Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. The ideal candidate will be ready to work fast, flexibly, and collaboratively. They will have expert written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish. They will know that social media and public relations are intertwined and will be able to deftly use both to elevate the external perception of Girl Scouts. They will be a creative, positive, curious go-getter.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Create engaging, original content for social media channels, including video, copy and photography assets
  • Monitor social channels and channel stories to local press when appropriate
  • Develop successful performance-driven social media campaigns that foster brand loyalty and grow engagement and awareness of Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas
  • Effectively moderate conversations, questions, and comments on all GSNETX social channels
  • Keep up to date with changes in social platforms to ensure maximum effectiveness
  • Monitor social media data and leverage data to inform social strategy
  • Compose and distribute media releases and media advisories
  • Post to community calendars, write radio scripts, send pitch emails and activate on other public relations needs in collaboration with our agency partners
  • Develop PR strategy in cooperation with the marketing team
  • Responsible for monitoring media clip report and utilizing articles for social content
  • Stay up-to-speed on current events and leverage social and news commentary to drive content on social media and in internal/external news
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local press representatives
  • Write content for GSNETX website and relevant internal news articles
  • Write content for internal and external newsletters, annual reports, donor communications
  • Occasional event work on evenings and weekends.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing or public relations field preferred
  • 2-4 years' experience in social media management, public relations, or both
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, written and verbal
  • Social media content development – Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Light graphic design skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once, reprioritizing as new needs arise

Preferred qualifications:

  • Video editing
  • Comfort being in front of camera
  • Experience with Salesforce, Adobe Creative Suite, Salesforce Marketing Cloud (or other email program), Adobe Experience Manager (or other web content editor)
  • non-profit experience preferred
