Summary 
Under general supervision, the Hygiene Program Attendant is responsible for the proper cleaning and maintenance of DWC’s restroom and shower facilities in accordance with DWC’s policies and procedures.  This position will be working around high noise levels and a vulnerable population. The incumbent must be able to remain focused on the job while dealing with interruptions from participants and/or other employee contact. 

Essential Functions

  1. Cleans and maintains assigned facilities before, during and after operational hours. Cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, wiping/disinfecting sinks, showers and counters, cleaning mirrors, cleaning toilettes, emptying trash receptacles, etc.
  2. Manages the supply inventory by restocking restroom supplies as need.
  3. Monitors and responds to inappropriate participant behavior, including enforcing rules and restrictions, regulating participants’ actions, and requesting assistance from Security and Day Center staff if or when necessary.
  4. Closely monitors restroom facilities to ensure a safe operation.
  5. Performs and monitors restroom inspections by completing the restroom inspection checklist.
  6. Must maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times.
  7. Must be willing and able to perform all other job duties and assignments as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibility 
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
Individual will be expected to work in many different environments including but not limited to restroom, shower stalls, etc.  The individual will be using brooms, mops, squeegees, cleaning brushes, various cleaners and sanitizers, etc. to accomplish various cleaning tasks and must be able to understand the proper use and care of such equipment and supplies.

Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

  1. Able to regularly use hands to finger, hands, and feel.
  2. Must have full use of hands, arms and legs to reach and operate equipment
  3. Able to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting.
  4. Able to stand and/or walk for up to (8) hours.
  5. Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  6. Must have good hearing and visual acuity to observe equipment, DWC participants, etc.
  7. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  8. Able to read and understand daily checklists.
  9. Able to work from work order system.
  10. Able to speak to give other employees and participants verbal instructions.
  11. Able to work in a considerably noisy environment.
  12. May requires early arrivals and/or late night departures.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work 
This is a part time position. Days and hours of work are,

  • Five hour/ four day weekly shift, Monday through Thursday, from 6:30am to 11:30am. 

Travel 
No travel is not expected for this position. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Position Qualifications

This position will be in contact with a high volume of participants on a daily basis, which requires good customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
