Reporting to the CRO, the Vice President of Engagement will be responsible for the continuous development of MIND’s marketing strategies as well as contributing to our organizational planning process.  You will lead a team in the development and execution of inbound/outbound marketing plans, lead generation and qualification plans, and activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's brand.

The VP of Engagement will be an ambassador for the organization and will need to build relationships with the media, educational influencers and advocates, administrators, and philanthropic partners.

Responsibilities:

Vision, Strategy and Leadership

  • Partner with CRO and Leadership team to:
    • continue to develop and enhance MIND’s long-term brand identity.
    • continue to develop and implement integrated and strategic marketing plans to advance our identity, broaden awareness of MIND’s programs and priorities, and instigate action across key stakeholder audiences to advance our mission.

Marketing Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of all Engagement functions including the development of highly engaging and impactful content that advances our position as thought leaders, PR/communications, social media, inbound/outbound marketing campaigns, lead generation and intelligence, national and regional events, digital and print visual assets, and all branded assets.
  • Develop marketing/public relations strategy that will allow MIND’s representatives to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including the media and key influencers.
  • Create reports and analyze KPIs to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Budgeting, planning, and team development to effectively manage all of the above.

Team Development/Management

  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Mentor and develop the team using a supportive and collaborative approach on a daily basis.
  • Establish and monitor individual and team performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct frequent performance evaluations, and administer role and salary adjustments.
  • Your attitude must be contagiously positive and empowering!  You will coach the team in the handling of challenges, ambiguity, and constant change with positivity and mindfulness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, non-profit management or related field is required, an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in senior management roles.
  • Experience with B2B, SaaS marketing in K-12 education, and STEM-related programming highly valuable.
  • Experience in a core curriculum product adoption.   
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  You will need experience writing and editing both informal content and formal press releases.  You will also be highly skilled in handling media questions and interviews, as well as preparing and delivering presentations for MIND’s Board of Directors and philanthropic donors.
  • Superior management skills, with the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.  You will need experience getting the “impossible” done!
  • Stature, gravitas, and confidence to gain the credibility and respect of multiple stakeholders, from superintendents to our Board of Directors, from Fortune 500 Corporations to individual donors.
  • Experience identifying industry trends that will affect organizational goals and developing plans to either leverage or ameliorate the impact of such trends.
  • Extremely comfortable and adaptable with technology and marketing tools.  Experience with HubSpot a huge plus!  Familiarity with Cision, Moz, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Trello, and Slack also important.

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30%-50% of the month.

This role is remote, but you will need to be comfortable turning on your camera to build rapport. Our office is based in beautiful southern California (Irvine), where residents are so weather-spoiled, they complain when temperatures drop below 70 or rise above 85.  Our colleagues enjoy casual dress every day, a kitchen stocked with refreshments and snacks, occasional barbecues, and sharing their love of yoga, games and reading with each other.
