We are seeking an Accounting Assistant who is responsible for providing accounting support to accounting supervisors and others within the department; handles accounts payable duties, account receivable duties; and ensures files are complete and maintained as needed. The Accounting Assistant will model and champion all organizational core values.

 

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Check invoices and other requests for payment for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorizations
  • Enter accounts payable invoices and prepares checks
  • Complete vendor setups and vendor communication
  • Participates in physical inventory counts
  • Completes customer setups and maintains customer data
  • Posts cash receipts and deposits into bank
  • Maintains and reconciles all credit card accounts
  • Assists and performs various billing activities
  • Data organizing, filing, archiving and other administrative responsibility for the finance department
  • Maintains Postage meter and Employee Lynx Tickets
  • Maintains accounts receivable and follows up on past due balances
  • Assist in month-end activities
  • Participates in meetings, company activities and events as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Education:                                     

  • Associate Degree in the field of business or equivalent work experience

 

License and/or Certification:

None required

 

Experience:

One plus year of experience and knowledge of basic accounting procedures. Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and data entry.

 

Demonstrated Knowledge and Skills:             

  • Competency using Microsoft products Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to meet all assigned deadlines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Detail oriented, organized and self-starter and capable of effectively balancing multiple priorities.
  • Strong professional communication skills with all contacts.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged sitting at work station; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling.
  • Repetitive hand motion and movements; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse.
  • Work with frequent interruptions.
  • Moderate ability to move and lift items usually ranging up to 15 lbs.

 

Requirements:

  • Must pass Level II background check
