The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of facilities and grounds, as well assisting with the maintenance and care of horses and equestrian facilities. This position is part-time.


  • Performs ongoing grounds maintenance in accordance with council standards, maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Performs EQ area maintenance duties in addition to feeding/watering horses at EQ Center.
  • Assist with lite carpentry, road maintenance, minor repair of machinery, landscaping, water and sewer systems, pool maintenance, plumbing and electrical maintenance.


  • Must be able to travel within established geographic areas and council service centers, as necessary.
  • Must have reliable transportation, hold a valid drivers’ license and meet GSNETX driving record & automobile insurance requirements.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS—Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA’s):

  • High school diploma, or general equivalency diploma (GED) or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with lite carpentry, road maintenance, minor repair of machinery, landscaping, water and sewer systems, pool maintenance, plumbing and electrical maintenance.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in the care of horses
  • Experience working with a volunteer workforce is a plus+.
  • Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy, respect and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by this council, and others with whom her/his job puts her/him in contact.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
